about the amount of money sears would lose if they did not accept credit
cards. The merchant rewards the credit card company with a fee for letting

If the stores did not pay this fee you would see an increase in your interest
rates that you pay to your credit company. and that wouldn't be good. More
importantly if the credit company did not receive this fee the would not be
able to reward you in the manner that you want.

store in which you swiped your card they then pass on a fraction of that fee
