If someone that you care about is getting ready to move to a different city, state, or even country, you may wish to have a going away party in that person's honor. Even if no formal party is held, you might feel the need to give that person a gift to show how much you care and how much that person will be missed. Finding the perfect gift, however, can be a bit tricky. After all, if the person is getting ready to move, he or she likely doesn't want a large object to pack up - this is particularly true if that person will be flying or will be relying on a moving service to help complete the move.

Since handwritten letters are quickly becoming a thing of the past, you might want to pre-pay for an email service for the person that is leaving or you might set up a website for that person that he or she can use to upload pictures and provide updates that you and others can read.

If the person is doing all of the moving without the help of a moving company, a gift that would be much appreciated would be your help with moving. Consider creating a coupon that is good for one day of moving and then go to your friend's house and help pack up the boxes and load them up for your friend.
The Gift of Attention
Your friend is most likely moving away because of some live-changing situation. Perhaps your friend got a new job, is getting married, or simply wishes to pursue a new lifestyle. Whatever, the reason, give a gift that will help the friend with that new life. If the friend is leaving in order to pursue a career working with sealife, for example, you might purchase scuba gear for your friend. If your friend wishes to move to Hollywood to try to be a star, purchase a photo shoot for your friend so he or she will have a headstart when pursuing gigs.
