I’m sure that I don’t need to explain the rules of the bingo game as they are simple enough to understand, but there are certain rules and forms of etiquette that you must adhere to if you are going to become a regular and popular player in the bingo hall. Obviously these rules only apply in brick ‘n’ mortar bingo halls and not online bingo rooms, as have become the craze recently. Some forms of etiquette should be upheld online or else you won’t make many friends, but the unwritten rules are a lot less stringent.
Don’t try to alter your card. It may seem like a no-brainer, but this has happened numerous times in the past and still happens to this day, despite the tighter security measures that are in operation. Bingo managers will make a show of anyone who has tried to cheat and will often prosecute to the full extent of the law. The game is all down to luck anyway, so you stand as much chance of winning as any other player, so you might as well play honestly and win if you win, lose if you lose.
If you finally hit Bingo but forget to call it, you have to wait until the next number has been called before shouting out. You cannot shout out whilst another number is being called out, because you might jeopardise the rest of the game and the chances of others; this is very unethical. The same applies to the situation where you have forgotten to call bingo and only realise when the game has ended. As soon as the balls for the next game have been “dropped” then you’ve missed your chance.
People are generally not allowed to sit-in on a game that they don’t have a card for, such as if they are watching friends or relatives. They won’t have their full attention on the game and might take to chattering, which can be very annoying and distracting to other players.
