Ukraine is a unitary state located in the south of Central Europe. It comprises twenty four regions, Crimea – an autonomous republic and 2 urban areas that are treated separately: Kiev that is the capital and Sevastopol. The consequence of the orange revolution which took place in 2004, is that Ukraine has the status of semi-presidential republic. Nowadays the system of power in this country has a quite interesting structure: the power is divided between several branches of power. Ukraine has a common border with 10 countries. These countries are Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Georgia, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Hungary, Moldova and Slovakia. There are Crimea and Carpathian mountains in Ukraine, Carpathian are significantly higher then Crimea mountains. River Dnieper flows through the imaginary center of Ukraine and separate it into two nearly equal parts. There is a huge amount of hydroelectric power plants are situated on river Dnieper. Every winter there is much snow there but the climate is quite mild and temperature is not very low. The mild climate in summer consists of a huge amount of rainy days, but there are a lot of shiny days too.
Ukrainian soils are famous all over the world for the highest quality. It is the result of very favorable climate terms. Actually, Ukraine is believed to be an agricultural country that constantly exports sugar, corn, vegetables and other products to more than 100 countries. Kiev is one of the oldest cities in Europe. It was established approximately in the 5th century and has got long and amazing history. It was the little settlement that became the center of Slavic civilization in the Eastern Europe. After it was occupied by Mongols in the 13th century and fully destroyed, it lost its eminence for a long time. In the 20th century Kiev was the capital of Ukrainian Soviet Republic that was comprised into the Soviet Union. It was a good chance for Kiev to become a world known city again. Today the population of Kiev is about 3 million citizens. According to the censuses the population is quickly growing year by year. The majority of population is Ukrainians and Russians, but there is a great deal of different ethnic groups which live there for several hundreds years. The government of the Soviet Union developed the building of the real estate in Kiev that became the result of rapidly increasing population. During the time of the sovereignty Kiev has been changed a lot. Now there are many high-class luxury hotels and expensive restaurants among old buildings of the Soviet epoch.
The economics of Ukraine is growing at stable rate. The increasing is also reflected in salaries that have also increased in real value about 20 percents per year from 2000 till 2006. Experienced economical foretellers say that Ukraine will become a member of WTO in a quite short time.
